Standard configuration P.38 semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Walther in 1940. The left side of the barrel is bears stampings stipulating the model, manufacturer code, 2 digit year of manufacture, and the serial number, with the right side bearing an "(Eagle)/ 359" waffenamt on either side of an eagle firing proof. Original slide markings have been scrubbed, with all stampings including the "ac/40" stamp, serial number, and waffenamts being applied at a later date. Barrel appears to be correct, with a Walther "ac" code on the underside, but does appear to have possibly been renumbered to match at one point in time. Metal components have been refinished, exhibiting a lustrous blue finish, with scattered areas of light pitting present beneath the finish. Frame is mounted with 2-piece Post-WWII Russian black plastic "positive" groove grips. CONDITION: Excellent, as restored, with metal components retaining virtually all of their reapplied blue finish overall. Bright bore, exhibiting moderate pitting and strong rifling throughout. Grips are very good, exhibiting some scattered marks from handling and storage.
