Circa 1943/1944. Serrated slope front sight, square notch flat top rear sight. Left side of slide with 2 line 2 block patent and address information intercepted by pony. Barrel with "COLT 45 AUTO" on lower left side of chamber, and what appears to be a very faint "F" or "P" ahead of lug. Top of frame with "I O" near disconnector hole, with a smaller "V B" near hammer recess. Frame with "GHD" proof on left side for Guy Drewry, "P" at magazine release, right side with US Property marking, model designation, and serial number. Trigger guard with "32" subinspector, left with "K" subinspector and Colt VP proof. Small parts comprise checkered spur hammer, thick tab safety, checkered slide release, short stamped trigger, checkered magazine release, long 1911A1 grip safety, arched knurled mainspring housing with lanyard loop. Grips are composites with thick reinforcing rings. Full blue magazine devoid of any markings. Accompanied by a 1943 dated shoulder holster with embossed "US" and marked for manufacture by Sears, but does not fit this gun. CONDITION: Metal retains the vast majority of the parkerized finish with some age related discoloration, spots of cleaned patination, mostly to slide, with some silvering to sharp edges. Some silvering in Drewry proof and crossed cannon cartouche from where stamp broke through park. Barrel has been reblued, legends somewhat softened, and color somewhat purple. Grips are modern. Mechanically fine, bore with visible rifling and areas of oxidation, concentrated ahead of chamber. Holster is good, supple, with some crazing and age-related distress.
