With only about 7000 of this model produced, this one has survived in exceptionally high condition. Blued barrel, cylinder and grip straps, with a case color frame and hammer. The cylinder is roll engraved with a Naval battle scene. One piece varnished wood grip. German silver blade front sight with a V notch rear sight at the barrel breech. Single line address on top of the barrel, "-ADDRESS COL. SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S.AMERICA-". Two line patent dates on the left side of the frame, "-PAT. JULY 26,1871- / -PAT. JULY 2, 1872-". On the cylinder is "COLT'S PATENT NO. 036". Matching serial numbers observed on the barrel assembly, frame, trigger guard, and backstrap. CONDITION: This gun remains in very high condition, retaining the majority of the high polish blue finish. The finish loss is mainly to the ejector rod housing and the cylinder. The case color has faded, but there is color in the protected areas. Good strong bore with well defined lands and grooves. The grips show a few handling marks and retain the vast majority of the original varnish. The action is tight and strong.
