Kentucky-style smooth rifle with traits suggesting origins in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, circa 1800 by an unknown gunsmith. 55 -1/2" overall with 40" octagon to round .55 caliber smoothbore barrel with rifle sights and no markings. Unmarked flintlock with brass Bucks County style sideplate and pierced single trigger. Full length curly maple stock with brass hardware and silver barrel escutcheon plates. CONDITION: Overall, the metal has some surface pitting and is turning a brown patina. The lock appears original, with some slight shrinkage around the mortise. The wood has been cleaned with an old coat of finish added in the day. Dark pitted bore with mechanics that do not hold. A very plain but eye-catching rifle.
