Standard configuration P.08 Luger manufactured by Simson & Co. for the Reichswehr during the Weimar era. The receiver is blank over the chamber area, with Simson "(Eagle)/ 6", "(Eagle)/ 81", and "(Eagle)/ 67" waffenamts stamped along the right side, followed by a Weimar reichsadler firing proof. Numerous "(Eagle)/ 6" waffenamts are present overall, in the standard Simson & Co. fashion, with 2 "(Eagle) / 33 waffenamts present on the right side of the breechblock. Major metal components exhibit a rust-blued finish, while some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. The frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. All numbers match the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, hold-open device, barrel, receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, toggles, grips, as well as magazine. This example is accompanied by a reproduction black leather P.38 holster containing 1 post-War P.38 magazine. CONDITION: Excellent, with major metal components retaining bountiful amounts of their original arsenal applied blue finish, exhibiting some scattered spots of very mild wear overall, as well as areas of thinning and wear showing through to brown patina on the sideplate. Strawed components exhibit some modest edge wear and are otherwise fine. Very bright bore, exhibiting consistent light pitting and retaining good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and a few scattered nicks to the diamonds but are otherwise very good. An exceptional example of a Simson & Co. P.08 Luger that one would find extremely difficult to upgrade from.
