Standard configuration P.08 manufactured by Mauser in 1940. The receiver is stamped "1940" over the chamber, with an "(Eagle)/ L" police proof present on the right. The left side bears a "(Eagle)/ N" commercial nitro proof, also present on the left side of the breechblock. Toggle bears the Mauser banner logo. Barrel is unmarked, except for an "(Eagle)/ N" commercial nitro proof on the front of the sight block. The receiver is mounted with a sear safety. Metal components are blued, while the frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered wood grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame, takedown lever, sideplate, trigger, safety lever & bar, receiver, trigger bar, breechblock, extractor, firing pin, and toggles, as well as on the magazine. Grips are unnumbered. This example is accompanied by an "OTTO SINDEL/ BERLIN/ 1940" marked black leather holster that contains an "(Eagle)/ B" marked loading tool. CONDITION: Metal components retain bountiful amounts of their blue finish, exhibiting mild spots of wear and some scattered marks from handling and storage overall. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing and a few nicks to the diamonds but are otherwise fine. The holster remains malleable and shows some scattered handling marks overall.
