This Model PP is one out of a very limited number of PP pistols chambered in 6.35mm that Walther manufactured before terminating production due to the lack of commercial interest. While listed by serial number (without the "P" suffix) on page 130 of "WALTHER VOLUME II: ENGRAVED, PRESENTATION and STANDARD MODELS" by James L. Rankin, this example is unusual in that it is outside of the standard 6.35mm production serial number range, and bears Third Reich era "(Eagle)/ N" commercial nitro proofs on the slide, chamber, and barrel. Additionally, this example bears a "P" serial number suffix and is hand engraved on the slide with the caliber designation. Otherwise, the configuration and markings are the same as other Model PPs of the era, with the Walther banner logo followed by Walther's manufacturer information and model designation present on the left side of the slide. Metal components are blued, while the frame is mounted with 2-piece Walther banner black plastic checkered grips. The magazine is unmarked and is not in the same configuration as standard 6.35mm magazines. CONDITION: Metal components retain the vast majority of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting scattered superficial marks from handling and storage, some minor edge wear, and a couple of spots of light surface-level oxidation. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit some smoothing, as well as some scattered marks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine.
