Manufactured 1914 per serial number. Standard configuration throughout with half moon front sight, U notch flat top rear sight, 2 line patent and address information on the left side of the slide with encircled Rampant Colt at the rear, right side with "MODEL OF 1911. U.S. ARMY" in a serif font. Barrel has "P H" stamped to be read horizontally with the barrel pointing right, a small horizontal "J" proof on the left side of the lug, and "5" in front. US Property marking on the left side of dustcover, frame with Penfield proof, right side of the frame with serial number. Small parts comprise spurred checkered hammer, relief mill cut slide release, thick tab safety with relief mill cut, long milled trigger, checkered magazine release, short 1911 grip safety, smooth flat mainspring housing with lanyard loop, and checkered walnut grips. The magazine is a 2-tone magazine with a lanyard loop on the bottom. Accompanied by a 1911 holster with 1916 date and "H.E.K." on the rear and "WW" on the toe. The double magazine pouch is faintly marked "ROCK ISLAND / ARSENAL" on the rear, with 1913 date and "H.E.K." and "C.G." inspector marks, snap replaced by a button with the seal of the United States. Housed in a generic black plastic case with 3 additional 2-tone magazines with flat bottoms. CONDITION: Overall excellent, retaining virtually all of the Colt bluing with very minor marks from handling and storage, most noticeable as silvering at reciprocating areas and high points. Some extremely mild losses at high points are consistent with edge wear. Appropriate distension around some stamps from the application of stamp. Mechanically fine, bore has strong visible rifling and frosting at edges of grooves. Leather is very good with some age-related distress and crazing but pliable and strong; the magazine pouch is missing the loops. The case is fine as associated; spare magazine are very good with some minor handling marks. This is an excellent example and presents very well with the leather accessories.
