Manufactured by Colt Firearms in 1862. This revolver was given to the consignor in 1953 by a descendant of the original owner First Lieutenant Aaron Pence Ashbrook, who served with Company B, 17th Regiment of the Ohio Volunteer Infantry as part of the Third Division, 14th Corps, Army of Cumberland, which participated in such battles as Chickamauga, Chattanooga, and Siege of Savannah. Ashbrook served from 1861 to 1862 and was discharged due to health reasons in November of 1862. Gun has single line New York address. Matching serial numbered cylinder with Naval scene. Case hardened 3-screw frame with matching serial number marked "COLT'S/PATENT". Brass matching serial numbered trigger guard. Plain walnut grip with illegible inspector's mark on the left side. Comes with consignor research, reproduction flask and wrench, original mold, and cap tin and rests in a correct style case made by the consignor. CONDITION: Overall good, with metal turning a silvery patina with areas of discoloration. All matching parts. Brass is bright from handling with wood grip having a dry appearance. Dark bore with good mechanics. The accessories are all in good condition.
