1 of only approximately 1,000 PPKs chambered in .22 LR manufactured by Walther towards the end of World War II. The left side of the slide bears the Walther banner logo, followed by Walther's manufacturer information, as well as the caliber and model designations. The right side of the slide (to the rear of the ejection port), chamber, and left side of the barrel bear Third Reich "(Eagle)/ N" commercial nitro proofs. Metal components are blued, while the frame is mounted with a 1-piece wrap around Walther banner checkered black plastic grips. Matching numbers are present on the frame and slide. According to James L. Rankin in "WALTHER MODEL PP and PPK: 1929-1945", approximately 1,000 PPKs chambered in .22 LR were manufactured with a high level of quality and finish by Walther towards the end of the wear for an unknown reason. These PPKs begin at approximately serial number 430,000, with Rankin's highest recorded number being 430948k, just 1 serial number above this example. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their original factory blue finish, exhibiting areas of wear and thinning (mostly concentrated on the slide) that show through to a pleasant brown patina, with some small spots of pitting present on the right side of the slide. Mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing, with some scattered marks from handling and storage and mild warping from age. A rare example of an unusual late-war production Walther PPK pistol.
