Richards-Mason conversion made by Colt Firearms circa 1870. Round nickeled barrel marked with illegible "COLT'S PT. F.A. Co./HARTFORD CT. U.S.A." in .38 centerfire with ejector rod and no provision for loading lever. Matching serial numbers on 5-shot cylinder, nickel-plated unmarked frame, silver plated brass .36 caliber marked frame and brass backstrap. Ivory 1-piece grips with Mexican Eagle grabbing a snake on left grip face. CONDITION: Metal has period looking aftermarket nickel finish with some of the frame markings polished away. Nickel starting to flake with some areas of light surface pitting. Front sight and ejector rod are missing. Cylinder scene polished away. Replaced wedge and trigger guard screws. Grips show authentic appearing age yellow appearance with some dark cracking. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling and functioning mechanics.
