1799 dated letter penned and signed by William Howe, the British Commander in America during the American Revolution. The letter is to a Major or General Ross and reads in part "The 1st Fencible L.Ds begins their march on Friday for Scotland & will be replaced next week by the Cinque Ports. The Surry move the same day for the Southern District (1st Ma Greys) to be replaced by the bucks." He signs "Yours Sincerely! W Howe". The letter was authenticated and was determined to have been written in the hand of Howe. Accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. Former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. Obvious fold lines with lower fold line tearing for about half its length. Writing is clear and legible with torn fold line right below signature. CONDITION: Good.
