Lot consists of: (A) Manuscript invoice of Colonel William A. Washington, kinsman of George Washington and a Continental Army officer who experienced extensive combat, from John Thomson for making a brown coat in 1794 and docketed by Washington on verso. Washington fought together with future President James Monroe, at the Battles of Harlem Heights and Trenton. He also fought at Brandywine, Germantown, and Monmouth and was wounded several times. (B) Invoice to Carroll of Charrollton for books, the "American Quarterly Review" and 5 volumes of "Diplomatic Correspondence", dated 1830. (C) Partly printed receipt issued to William Irving, Boston, 1788 for an assessment to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences signed by Eben Storer. (D) 3 lines and signature of Thomas Penn, constable of Waterbury, 1775, a legal endorsement cut from a document. CONDITION: All documents exhibit blemishes that are typical of old paper, including edge wear, fading, yellowing, creasing, etc. Ex-Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection.
