Interesting letter penned by notable Revolutionary War officer James Clinton writing to a friend in order to obtain his watch that was exchanged by mistake. "I send your watch by my son DeWitt who lives in the colledge in New York that you exchanged with me by mistake the morning you left...you may give him mine if my son also has not already got it you would much oblidge me if you would-advance my son forty or fifty pounds...I will see you paid in the Spring with Interest and Acknowledge it as a great favor". The letter is dated post-Revolution, November 16, 1785. The signature was authenticated, and the letter is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. Former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. Nice edges on most sides with old fold lines and slight yellowing. Crisp writing with some fading and attractive signature. CONDITION: Good.
