Signed letter from the French physician and politician whose name became synonymous with the "humane" instrument of execution whose use he proposed to the government during the French Revolution. The latter is 2 pages (1 page front and back) and is written on an attractive Office of the National Domain of the Department of the Seine letterhead. Signed on 2nd page by Guillotin. The signature was verified and is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity. This letter is former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. Measures approximately 12 - 1/2" x 8 - 1/4". Nice edges with wear and yellowing. Ink remains bold and legible. A very nice letter from a notable French figure. CONDITION: Good.
