Another generous lock of reddish-brown hair consisting of a plethora of strands that measure about 2" in length, from the head of America's third president and founding father, Thomas Jefferson. The stands of hair are formed into this lock by the securing thread and is secured to a copy of a notarized letter by a piece of white tape. The hair is a piece of the lock in lot ***insert lot number here*** and was divided for a prior sale. This hair lock is accompanied by a copy of the notarized letter from Charles Perry Fisher, librarian, that reads "The lock of hair of Thomas Jefferson was the property of Doctor Robley Dunglism, a friend of Jefferson's; it became the property of his son, Dr. Richard J. Dunglism, my step-father, and eventually became my property." Just below, Fisher's statement is verified and witnessed by Newman F. McGirr, whose attention is notarized. The letter bears the date April 15, 1929, and was also in the collection of Dr. John K. Lattimer. There is a typed note at the bottom of the copy of the letter from Charles Hamilton that states he split from the lock with the original letter and certifies the authenticity of this second lock of hair. CONDITION: Paper has yellowed with hair nicely secured to the paper and tape exhibiting age.
LOCK OF THOMAS JEFFERSONS HAIR EX-LATTIMER.
