An interesting Revolutionary War document dated 7 July, 1781, signed by William Howe and Hugh Earl Percy. The document is regarding orders that payment be provided for clothing for the British Army's 25th Regiment of Foot. "We the General Officers for Inspecting and Regulating the Clothng of the Army for the present year do hereby certifie, that the clothing for the 25th Regiment of Foot Commanded by the Right Honorable Lieutenant General Lord George Lennox, having been viewed by a General Officer...We desire you to comply with payment of this Assignment, amounting to Two Thousand six hundred and seventy seven Pounds, three shillings and four pence." The payment was ordered to be completed by 5 July 1782. The document is accompanied by a James Spence Authentication Full Letter of Authenticity which verifies the William Howe signature and states that the Percy signature is deemed to be secretarially signed. This document is former Dr. John K. Lattimer Collection. Edge wear with fold lines and yellowing with legible writing and signatures. CONDITION: Good.
