Representative Indian trade musket that dates to the middle to late 19th century. 3-stage smoothbore steel barrel with front and rear sights on top. Rounded percussion lock plate with stamped seated tombstone fox looking leftover "EB" for Hudson's Bay Company inspector Edward Bond. Front of lock plate is stamped "BARNETT/LONDON." Barnett was a long-time supplier of firearms to both the Hudson Bay Company and Northwest Company. Top of barrel flat exhibits English flag and crown proofs and "24." Oversized iron trigger guard for firing with mittens. Serpent sideplate brass furniture with a sheet brass butt plate held in place with 4 screws. Wooden ramrod is a later replacement and held in place by brass guides. CONDITION: Overall good with a dark brown and gray patina on barrel that shows some light pitting concentrated primarily on the lock plate. Highlighted golden patina on the brass serpent side plate. The full-length walnut stock is solid overall and exhibits scattered dings and scuff marks. Hammer mainspring is strong and holds its half cock position.
