An excellent medal grouping that spans from the Spanish American War-World War I named to a member of Colonel Robert Watkinson Huntington's First Marine Battalion. The group includes a Sampson Medal with Manzanillo bar impressed with date "August 12." on reverse, named on rim "JAMES J. KELLY , PRVT.", Army Spanish Campaign Medal numbered "No 4556" on rim, Spanish American War Veteran's Medal numbered "10124", Mexican Border Medal numbered "38751", World War I Victory Medal with 5 clasps and matching ribbon with 5 campaign stars, and Croix de Guerre Medal, 1914-1918 with star. The 1st Marine Battalion (Reinforced) needs no introduction as it was assigned for duty with Admiral Sampson’s North Atlantic Squadron. The battalion was in continuous action against Spanish forces at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba from June 11th - June 14th 1898 concluding with the bay’s capture as a coaling and repair facility for the U.S. fleet. Kelly evidently remained in the military, seeing heavy action in World War I and he is later listed as a corporal, 138th Co., CAC. His medals are tastefully mounted in a display case and are ready for display. Medals exhibit a pleasing patina with most exhibiting varying degrees of fraying on ribbons. Veteran's medal ribbon is nearly separated and barely attached. CONDITION: Good.

ADDENDUM: Photos of rims added.
