Kriegsmodell bolt action rifle manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch in 1945. These "T" suffix Kriegsmodell are among the very last rifles produced at the Steyr arsenal before being captured by the Allies. The receiver is stamped with a Steyr "(Eagle)/ WaA623" waffenamt above "Mod.98" and Steyr's clandestine manufacturer code and year of manufacture "bnz45". This example is comprised of both blued and phosphate-finished components from various manufacturers, as is common for late-war production rifles. Matching numbers are present on the barrel, bolt body, bolt sleeve, cocking piece, rear sight ladder, and rear sight base. The rifle is mounted with a period brown leather sling. CONDITION: Metal components retain large amounts of their arsenal finish, exhibiting some wear and scattered marks from handling and storage and some areas of age-related discoloration on phosphate-finished components. Mirror bore, exhibiting well-defined rifling throughout. The stock exhibits some nicks and marks from handling and storage but is otherwise fine. A nice example of an extremely late-war Steyr production Kriegsmodell rifle.
