An original 1880's-1890's U. S. Army cavalry greatcoat with detachable cape. Used in John Ford westerns and numerous other films. Inside of the right sleeve on the original lining is printed "L. Levy & Son." in black ink also is "Western Costume / Hollywood, Calif." label and stamp, "Size 40". Original 1884 brass eagle buttons, studio altered with added yellow accents and lining, the sleeves have original 1880s-issue cavalry yellow sergeant chevrons sewn to lower portion of each sleeve, near the cuff, as per army regulations for cavalry greatcoats.
