Cowdrey states in his book "Brain-tanned leather, glass seed beads, wool edge binding, brass sequins, brass hawk bells, tin cones, dried bird fluff, silk ribbon. Although made well into the Reservation period, the design of paired hourglass figures in this bridle, which appear in Sioux art since the 18th century as symbols of Thunderbirds, harkens back to the old association of horses with valorous warfare. A 1 3/4" full beaded brow and nose bands and 1 1/2" beaded cheeks, unmarked globe bit is correct for the time period. Circa 1910".
