A 4X beaver hat marked “Watkin’s Western Wear / Houston, Texas” and embossed in gold letters “GOV JOE FOSS”, 3 - 1/2” brim, 4” crown and a light brown color. Comes in a square “branding” box with a personalized label attached to the top. Includes a signed photo of Foss dated 1977.
Joseph Jacob Foss (1915 – 2003) was a U. S. Marine Corps major and a leading Marine fighter ace in World War II. A recipient of the Medal of Honor. He was an Air National Guard brigadier general, and served as the 20th Governor of South Dakota and president of the National Rifle Association and was also the first commissioner of the American Football League.
