Nagasa approximately 69.1cm, Sori about 3.4cm. Finer aspects of sword not visible to due to state of polish, but hamon looks to be ko-choji midare with a jizo boshi. Katanamei signed Tadamitsu; no papers. Ha agari nakagojiri with faint katte sagari yasurime. Single punched mekugiana. Plain iron tsuba with one filled hitsu-ana and depicting a mountain scene overlooking boats accented with light metal highlights. Traditional woven tsuka-ito with rayskin same and menuki that appear to depict bugs (?, unclear). Fuchi and kashira with a scaled texture. Leather wrapped saya with single ashi; Fuller and Gregory speculate that these were the preferred mounts for Japanese Naval Landing Forces. Includes the very scarce cover for tsuka. CONDITION: Sword is out of polish with a reasonably clear hamon and boshi; some minor handling marks, scattered scratches, and some surface darkness. Saya leather is strong and pliable with some scratches, tsuka cover is very fragile and should be treated with extreme caution. Leather seppa for original retaining button is present but damaged and fragile. Mounts are essentially chocolate patina with some softening of features. An interesting sword.
