Lot consists of: (A) Nickel-finished Remington-Smoot New Model No. 3 manufactured circa 1878 to 1888. Standard 3 - 3/4" octagon barrel bearing 1-line address, half moon front sight, and 5-shot .38 RF fluted cylinder. 1 of an estimated 6,000 made with saw handle frame, this example features smooth 2-piece pearl grips. 2 painted collection numbers present. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the lustrous period nickel is retained throughout with some light surface scratching and a couple minor spots of loss. Right grip has a loss at the base with an additional small chip near the top. Strong, frosted bore with pitting present near the muzzle. Crisp mechanics. (B) Nickel-finished Remington-Smoot New Model No. 2 manufactured circa 1877 to 1885. Features include a 2 - 3/4" octagon barrel with 1-line address, half moon front sight, 5-shot .30 RF fluted cylinder, bird's head frame with 2-piece pearl grips. Housed in an attractive partitioned hardwood case. CONDITION: Excellent. Nearly all of the original nickel finish is retained throughout with some minor freckles. Significant portions of case colors are retained on hammer with right side fading. Trigger likewise exhibits portions of original nitre blue. A small crack and nick present on the left grip. Heavily frosted bore. Crisp mechanics. Case is very good.
