Made by Winchester Repeating Arms in 1876. The rifle has a 3-digit serial number, 758, and is one of the rare first 3000 made with the open top feature. Standard 28" full octagon barrel with standard sights, Winchester address over King's Patent, and British proofs at left side of breech. Standard Winchester bright blue finish with case-hardened lever and hammer, rare factory single set trigger, and unmarked brass elevator with a standard full magazine. Receiver nicely engraved on top in script with "Geo. H. DAW & Co./57 THREADNEEDLE STREET/LONDON". Standard plain walnut stocks with blued nose cap and case-hardened trap buttplate with original 4-piece steel cleaning rod. Cody Reseach confirms configuration and manufacture date. CONDITION: 90% fading original barrel blue with edges turning silver and muzzle showing light case wear. 90% + magazine tube blue with light edge wear. 92%+ original action blue with light edge wear and a small area of discoloration on the carry area. Nice screws, most look like they have never been turned. Brass elevator has faded to a golden patina. Case-hardened parts have fading visible colors with balance fading to a smoky gray. Wood has 90% original finish, with the forearm showing old light gouges. Buttstock has some dings in the wrist area with some other noticeable light bumps and bruises. Bright and shiny bore with sharp rifling and great mechanics. A great 1876 and possibly one of the finest open tops in existence!
