Made by Winchester Repeating Arms in 1903, and one of 36,000 made in this configuration. Standard 30" full round musket barrel with 3 barrel bands, integral blade front sight, graduated flip military sight, and Winchester address over King's Patent with .44 W.C.F. caliber marking. Standard Third Model Winchester bright blue finish receiver with case-hardened lever and hammer, plain trigger, and 44 W.C.F. marked brass elevator with standard full musket magazine. Standard plain walnut stocks with full-length plain walnut musket style forearm and case-hardened trap buttplate missing original steel cleaning rod. Cody Reseach confirms the configuration and manufacture date. CONDITION: 95% original barrel blue with edges turning silver and muzzle showing some case wear. 85%+ magazine tube blue, starting to fade to a silvery patina. 95%+ original action blue with small marks at the carry point. Nice screws; most appear to have never been turned. The brass elevator has faded to a golden patina. Case-hardened parts have fading visible colors with balance fading to a smoky gray. Wood has 90% original finish, with the forearm showing small insignificant dings and scratches. Buttstock has some dings in the wrist area, with two noticeable scrapes on each side of buttstock. Bright and shiny bore with sharp rifling and great mechanics. A great 1873 Musket and possibly one of the best.
