Made by Winchester Repeating Arms Company in 1882 in desirable .50-95 Express caliber. Original blued 26" octagon barrel with Winchester and King's Patent 2-line marking on top, marked at breech "50 CAL", with fit with standard blade front sight and notch rear adjustable sight. Case hardened scarce second model frame with blued loading gate and dust cover marked "WINCHESTER EXPRESS/ .50 CAL 95 GRAINS" with plain trigger. Blued full magazine. Standard plain walnut stocks with case-hardened furniture, including trapdoor crescent buttplate (missing cleaning rods). Cody Research verifies all options except barrel (possible mistake in records). CONDITION: 90% original barrel blue with areas of light pitting and edges starting to turn silver. 90% original case colors with brown discoloration coming through, freckling and silver patina on carry areas. 90% dull finish on stock with no visible repairs or restoration; stock shows wear from moderate use and carry. Mirror bore with strong mechanics. A great big caliber '76!
