Low 3-digit serial number, 766, applied May 9, 1892, and the completed rifle shipped from the warehouse on September 3. Standard 24" blued octagon barrel chambered in .44-40 with a full-length magazine tube, rocky mountain front sight, and elevation adjustable rear sight. High polish blued receiver with case-hardened lever and hammer. Stocked in plain walnut with a blued steel nose cap and crescent rifle butt plate. Complete with factory research. CONDITION: Excellent. Barrel retains bountiful amounts of original blued finish, silvering along the high edges. Receiver likewise displays the vast majority of its wonderful factory high polish blue with some surface scratching. Loading gate retains most of its nitre blue. Lever shows traces of case color, mostly having faded to patina. Stocks are very fine, showing some scattered field impressions. Excellent bright bore. Mechanically fine. A wonderful example of a very early production 1892 rifle.

CORRECTION: There is an extra screw in the tang.
