Post-World War I rebuilt P.08 Luger assembled from parts and components for police use. The receiver is stamped "1920/ 1917" over the chamber, with DWM arsenal proofs on the right. Toggle bears DWM's intertwined monogram. Right side of frame, receiver, barrel, and toggle bear "(Crown)/ N" commercial nitro proofs. Front of trigger guard bears an Imperial German Reichsalder. Front grip strap bears a crossed-out "S.L.Pol.3893" police unit mark above an "S.P./ L. police unit mark stamped on the toe. Barrel is of Erfurt manufacture. Major metal components are rust blued, while some smaller components are strawed or nitre blued. Frame is mounted with 2-piece checkered walnut grips. All numbers match, with the grips matching via a faint red hand-scribed number. Magazine bottom is forced matched. CONDITION: Major metal components retain the vast majority of their period arsenal applied rust blue finish, exhibiting some areas of mild wear and oxidation, with some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage. Strawed components retain traces of their arsenal finish, with the balance exhibiting a gray patina and some scattered spots of age-related discoloration. Bore is bright, exhibiting some very mild pitting and fair to good rifling throughout. Grips exhibit smoothing, with some scattered nicks from handling and storage, but are otherwise fine.
