P.38 semi-automatic pistol manufactured by Mauser in 1944. The left side of the slide is stamped "P.38" followed by "byf/ 44" and the serial number, with a Mauser "(Eagle)/ WaA135" waffenamt and an eagle firing proof stamped on the right. Frame and slide exhibit a phosphate finish while the barrel is blued. The frame is mounted with 2-piece grooved pressed resin grips. All numbers match and include the frame, slide, barrel, and locking block. This example is accompanied by a "cxb/ 43" marked brown leather holster. CONDITION: Very good, with metal components retaining the vast majority of their original factory-applied finishes, exhibiting mild edge wear overall and some scattered superficial marks from handling and storage. Brilliant mirror bore, exhibiting sharp and well-defined lands and grooves throughout. Grips exhibit some superficial marks from handling and storage but are otherwise fine. Holster exhibits some age-related cracking and some mild crazing but otherwise remains malleable. A very high-condition example of a dual-tone Mauser P.38 that would be a very difficult specimen to upgrade from.
