Lot consists of: (A) Hand forged iron war axe with bleeding heart cutout design. Circa 1890s. Features an 8" blade with 3 - 1/4" cutting edge. Blade is 19th century; brass tacked haft may be later replacement but does show decent age and patina. (B) Blacksmith forged Missouri war axe with bleeding heart cutout design. Circa 1850. Blade measures 7 - 1/2" by 4 - 1/4" cutting edge. Haft is original to the axe and shows commensurate wear and age to the blade. CONDITION: Missouri axe shows heavy pitting to the blade with a very weathered relic haft typical of an item found outside or exposed to the elements.
