Lot consists of (A) Gun barrel pipe tomahawk circa 1840-1860. 7 - 5/8" tall with a 2 - 3/4" cutting edge, head features an octagonal bowl made from a gun barrel with brass inlay stripes on top of blade under the shoulder moulding. (B) Classic early Western style hand-forged iron tomahawk head. For similar examples see pg. 88-89 of "Tomahawks, Pipe Axes of the American Frontier", John Badwin, 1995. CONDITION: Normal iron oxidation and frosting with some moderate pitting on the larger blade.
