Manufactured from 1863 to 1875, with a significant portion produced for martial service in the Civil War. This example features a polished blue finish, an 8" octagonal barrel stamped with 3-line "NEW MODEL" address on top flat, blade front sight, frame notch rear sight, removable 6-shot .44 caliber percussion cylinder, and attractive 2-piece smooth ivory grips. Martial subinspector markings present throughout. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel and cylinder retain the vast majority of their original lustrous blued finish with some wear, the frame and loading lever also displays significant portions of original finish. The majority of the heavily muted case colors are present on the hammer, the trigger also exhibits nearly all of its nitre blue. Grips are excellent and fit slightly shy to the frame. Excellent mirror bore. Crisp mechanics.
