Made at Springfield Armory in 1918. Blued finish 24" barrel marked "HS" over "Flaming Bomb" over "1-44" date. Originally made to accept the Pedersen device, then rearsenalled and rebarreled for use in World War II. Correct banded blade front sight and graduated flip rear sight marked to 2800 yards. Blued action with correct unmarked unswept bolt. Walnut 2-bolt "scant" stock with no markings and high hump top wood. Correct grooved high hump top wood. Blued metal hardware with milled trigger guard. CONDITION: Metal fading to a silvery gray patina. Cleaned stock with no visible repairs or restoration with small chip out of wood in front of floorplate. Frosted bore with visible rifling with ME of 2 and TE of 3 with good mechanics.
