Standard 32 - 1/2" bright finished round barrel chambered in .50-70 with bayonet lug front sight and ladder rear graduated to 900 yards. Hardened receiver and breechblock dated "1869" over eagle head, crossed arrows, and "U.S." markings. Case hardened "1863" dated Springfield lock plate with a 2-click tumbler. Full-length walnut military stock bearing 4 boxed script cartouches, including 2 for inventor and inspector Erskine Allin. Bright finished mounts include a pair of barrel bands, 2-piece trigger guard, and "US / 30" marked butt plate. Complete with a "US / 36" marked bayonet. CONDITION: Very fine. In-the-white components remain bright with some light patina spots. Lock plate retains significant portions of case colors with some fading. Stock displays a rich, age-darkened appearance with some scattered impressions. Excellent bright bore. Mechanically fine.
