Exceedingly rare and one of a kind. This gun is mentioned on page 289 in the book by Don Wilkerson "Colt's Double Action Revolver Model Of 1878". This gun has a factory extended grip frame with checkered wood grip panels and a square butt. The Colt archive letter states that serial number 32172 is a .41/c with a 5 - 1/2" barrel. Blue finish with checkered wood, long special style grips. Sold to J. Melrose and shipped to Thomas Ginaston on April 19, 1893 in a shipment of one gun. It comes with a copy of Don Wilkerson's book "COLT'S DOUBLE - ACTION REVOLVER MODEL OF 1878", a tooled leather holster and a cartridge belt. Single line address on top of the barrel "COLT'S PT. F. A. CO. HARTFOED CT. U.S.A.". Caliber designation on the left side of the barrel "41 COLT". It also has the Rampant Colt logo on the left rear of the frame. CONDITION: Gun has turned a gunmetal gray with hints of blue in the protected areas. There are a few dings and contusions scattered across the gun. Grips show use and wear. Dark bore with frosting and some slight pitting in the lands and grooves. Holster and belt show wear.
