Lot consists of: (A) Model 1856 waist belt and plate. Faint oval government inspector's mark stamped on leather to the wearer's right of the plate. The belt features a Regulation 1839 Pattern belt that is die-struck with a rolled brass face, lead-filled, and featuring arrow belt hooks. For a similar example see O'Donnell & Campbell, plate 497. Leather is supple but exhibits cracking, especially at belt holes. Plate exhibits a dark patina with edge wear. CONDITION: Good. (B) Civil War cap box with faint cartouches on inner flap. Riveted belt loops with brass flap-finial, securing strap is complete. Traces of glue on obverse and reverse. Right belt loop is cracked by rivet. Interior flap exhibits heavy cracking. CONDITION: Good. (C) Civil War cap box marked "SICKLES & CO. / ST. LOUIS / MO." on inner flap. Riveted belt loops with brass flap-finial, securing strap is complete. Smooth surfaces with pliable leather. Most wear is on securing strap. CONDITION: Very good. (D) Sword hanger for white buff dragoon belt. The belt was dyed brown at some point, with the original color present on reverse. Leather is stiff. CONDITION: fair.
