Lot consists of: (A) Model 1888 trapdoor fit with a standard proofed blued 32 - 5/8" barrel chambered in .45-70 with hooded blade front sight and "R" marked Buffington rear sight. Case-hardened breech block marked "U.S. / MODEL / 1884". Full-length walnut stock with strong "SWP / 1891" cartouche, encircled "P" firing proof, and painted unit marking. Blued steel mounts include screwdriver bayonet, 2 barrel bands, 1-piece trigger guard, and "US" marked butt plate. CONDITION: Very fine. The vast majority of the arsenal applied blued finish is retained, with areas drifting to plum brown patina. Breech block displays strong case colors. Stock is very good with scattered impressions. Excellent bore. Crisp mechanics. (B) Model 1884 fit with a standard proofed blued 32 - 5/8" barrel chambered in .45-70 with blade front sight and "R" marked Buffington rear sight. Significant traces of arsenal finishes are retained with the balance fading to patina and some cleaned oxidation spots. Stock is fine with some scattered impressions. Very good strong bore. Crisp mechanics.
