One of 1,000 pairs produced circa 1980 expertly reproducing a pair of Queen Anne turnbarrel flintlock pistols by Dealtry of London originally purchased by Thomas Jefferson in 1786 and still displayed at Monticello. Pistols feature brass cannon barrels with floral engraved engraved frame, inscribed "DEALTRY" and "LONDON" in banners. Stocked in figured walnut with grotesque face butts and escutcheons engraved with "TJ" initials for Jefferson. Housed in a very attractive fitted hardwood case with tools including mold and turnscrew. CONDITION: Excellent. Brass and steel are bright, with some evidence of flint strikes on frizzens. Stocks show some handling marks, retaining virtually all of their lustrous varnish. Case is fine with some scattered marks for storage and display.
