Lot consists of: (A) Wonderful Civil War ID badge manufactured by Trebus & Steiner of St. Louis, Missouri, and marked as such on the reverse. The badge is constructed of German Silver and is in the shape of a shield. It is engraved "N.J. COCHREN / Co. B 84th / IND. INF." Newton J. Cochren was a 5' 5", light-haired, blue-eyed 19-year-old farmer when he enlisted as a private in Company B, 84th Indiana Infantry on August 6, 1862. Private Cochren was wounded in the thigh during the Battle of Chickamauga on September 20, 1863. He participated in the Atlanta Campaign from March 3-June 23, 1864. He mustered out on June 10, 1865. The badge is accompanied by several pages of research detailing Private Cochren's service. The badge exhibits a light patina with scattered light scratches and tarnishing. CONDITION: Very good. (B) Civil War ID badge constructed of German Silver in the shape of a cross. The badge is engraved "Co F / 2' / VT. VOL. INF. / E.E. ROLLINS. / WAR / 1861-5". Elisha E. Rollins mustered into Company F, 2nd Vermont Infantry on June 6, 1861. He was promoted to Corporal and mustered out on June 29, 1864, later serving as Post Commander at GAR post 111. He died on July 26, 1921. Nice patina with light blemishes. CONDITION: Very good.
