Full-stock Kentucky rifle made by Henry Leman circa 1840 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Gun has 38 - 3/4" octagon .32 caliber rifled barrel with silver blade front sight, notch rear sight, and barrel stamped "H.E. LEMAN/LANCASTER, PA/WARRANTED". Gun has back action percussion H. ELWELL/WARRANTED marked lock with double set trigger control. Full length curly maple checkered wrist stock with silver escutcheon hardware, including an engraved finial four-piece patchbox. The stock is decorated with silver escutcheon inlays and oval toe inlay. Comes with a striped hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has turned a plum patina with areas of light pitting. The hardware has been cleaned and polished. Wood has had a coat of wax with a large piece missing around lock and checkering worn flat. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling with good mechanics.
