Full-stock Kentucky rifle made by Andrew Gompf circa 1840 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Gun has 41" octagon .44 caliber smoothbore barrel with silver blade front sight, notch rear sight, and barrel stamped "A. GOMPF/LANCASTER, PA". Gun has percussion illegible marked lock with double set trigger control. Full length curly maple checkered wrist stock with brass hardware, including an engraved keyhole finial four-piece patchbox. Comes with a hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has turned a plum patina with areas of light pitting. Hardware has been cleaned and polished. Possible replaced triggers and hammer. Wood was cleaned with an added coat of wax, areas of burnout around the lock, and a stable repaired crack at the wrist. Checkering wearing flat and several slivers missing along forestock. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling with good mechanics.
