Full-stock Kentucky rifle made by an unknown gunsmith circa 1840, similar to guns made in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. 41" octagon .50 caliber smoothbore barrel with silver blade front sight and notch rear sight with barrel decoration. Gun has percussion "Parker Warranted" marked lock with single trigger control. Full length curly maple stock with brass hardware, including an engraved Lancaster-style floral finial 4-piece patchbox. The stock is decorated with a silver diamond wrist inlay and a silver oval cheek inlay. Comes with a hardwood ramrod. CONDITION: Metal has turned a plum patina with areas of light pitting. The hardware has been cleaned and has aged to a plain golden patina. Wood has had a coat of linseed oil with areas of burnout around lock. The lock does not fit the mortise precisely, and patchbox lid needs some attention. Dark pitted bore with visible rifling with good mechanics.
