Manufactured circa 1863. Polished blue 5" octagon barrel with 1-line New York address and brass pin front sight. 6-shot .31 caliber percussion cylinder roll marked with a strong stagecoach holdup scene. Frame, loading lever, and hammer are case hardened. Silver plated brass grip straps with 1-piece smooth walnut grips. Housed in a period hardwood partitioned case with correct eagle flask, 2 cavity Colt's Patent mold, nitre blued L-shaped tool, American Powder Co. combustible envelope cartridges, and an Eley cap tin. CONDITION: Very fine. Barrel retains the majority of its factory blue, starting to drift to patina with a few spots of cleaned, older oxidation. Cylinder has largely faded to brown patina. Case colors are dark, but remain strong. Grip straps display a mellow patina with significant portions of age-darkened silver plating. Bright, strong bore with some light abrasions. Matching numbers observed throughout. Case is very good, appears refinished, with the key escutcheon missing. Accessories are very good to fine. A very nice cased Colt from the Civil War period.
