Manufactured circa 1856. Polish blued 6" octagon barrel marked with 2-line London address and fit with pin front sight. 5-shot .31 caliber percussion cylinder roll marked with stagecoach holdup scene. Grip straps are steel with 1-piece plain walnut grips. Like some other known late production examples, this revolver does not bear standard English proofs, and was most like exported for sale to the United States where demand was higher for firearms in the years leading up to the Civil War. The revolver is also accompanied by a period partitioned oak case with intact lid label, English flask, Colt's Patent 2-cavity mold, and Eley Bro cap tin. CONDITION: Fine. Portions of original blue are retained on barrel, thinning to patina. Other iron components exhibit pleasing gray patinas. Strong markings and cylinder scene. Fine bore with some areas of abrasion. Mechanically fine. Matching full or partial serial numbers observed throughout, wedge unnumbered. Case is very good with minor separation and some scratching, especially on the underside. Accessories are good.
