Manufactured from 1863 to 1875, with a large portion produced for martial service in the Civil War. Blued finish with an 8" octagon barrel bearing 2-line address. Blade front sight and frame notch rear. Fit with 2-piece smooth walnut grips, the left stamped with a script inspector cartouche. Military subinspector marks found on major components throughout. CONDITION: Very good. Barrel finish has drifted to a pleasing plum, other iron components display a gray patina with traces of blue. Trigger guard is bright. Grips show wear, especially at base, remaining very good overall. Frosted bore with well-defined rifling and a few larger pits. Crisp mechanics.
