Estimated total production of 950, manufactured from 1838-1841, with the vast majority being in carbine configuration. 24" barrel in .525 caliber, smoothbore, with pin front sight and notched rear sight dovetailed into barrel. Left side of barrel has correct Paterson barrel address, complete with a snake and star on either side. Matching serial numbers observed on back of barrel lug, cylinder ring, and turning keeper ring. 1 piece plain walnut stock with iron carbine buttplate. CONDITION: Fair, with consistent heavy age-related pitting throughout and signs of heavy cleaning on metal assemblies. Stock is worn with finish loss and handling marks throughout but no major cracks. Mechanically fine. Bore has scattered heavy pits throughout. A rare piece of Colt history in well-used condition.
