Lot consists of: (A) Indian Wars M1872 cavalry saber in standard configuration with blade etched in patriotic motifs for about half its length on both sides. Bear proof on obverse ricasso and marked "THE / M.C. LILLEY & CO. / COLUMUS, O." on reverse ricasso. Brass guard with sunburst on top and eagle with stars on bottom. 3-banch guard with grooved wood grip wrapped with rayskin and brass wire. Complete with metal scabbard with brass mounts. Blade with scattered blemishes throughout its length and wear to grip, nice patina to pommel. Scabbard exhibits wear and patina. CONDITION: Good. (B) US M1872 Staff Officer sword in standard configuration with blade etched in patriotic motifs on gold washed panels for about half its length on both sides. "US" rubbed off of center of obverse blade. Marked by same maker as (A). Folding counterguard functions, grooved wood grip wrapped with sharkskin and twisted wire. Complete with scabbard. Blade remains bright with scattered blemishes, hilt is bright, and scabbard exhibits scattered blemishes with minor patina. CONDITION: Good. (C) US M1872 Staff Officer sword in standard configuration with blade etched in patriotic motifs for about half its length on both sides. Marked by same maker as (A) and (B) in different style. Fixed counterguard with grooved wood grip wrapped with rayskin and brass wire. Complete with scabbard. Blade etchings are faint, hilt with mellow patina, and scabbard exhibits wear with patina. CONDITION: Fair.
