Lot consists of: (A) M1860 Staff and Field Officer's sword in standard configuration marked "Horstmann / Phila" on ricasso. Blade is decorated with etched foliate and patriotic motifs for about half its length on both sides. Folding counterguard that locks in place. Wood grip wrapped with sharkskin and twisted brass wire. Complete with metal scabbard that features brass mounts. Blade is bright with crisp decorations and scattered blemishes toward tip. Hilt exhibits a light patina with intact grip and tight brass wire. Scabbard exhibits scattered light blemishes. CONDITION: Good. (B) M1860 naval cutlass marked "USN / DR / 1863" on obverse ricasso and what appears to be faint Ames marking on reverse ricasso. Marked "2.5M / 229" under quillon. Soup ladle guard marked "35". Sword is stored in a metal scabbard with carry stud. Drag marked "RA 3058". Blade exhibits a dark patina. Hilt exhibits a pleasant patina with scattered small dents to guard. Leather grip exhibits wear. Metal scabbard exhibits a decent patina with scattered blemishes and pitting. CONDITION: Fair.
